WARPIGs Win Six in a Row, Finish Top of the Table

We knew that kicking off the league season away up in Buffalo would be a challenge. And it was a disappointing result. Our full contingent of Kiwis was yet to arrive. Even so we left points on the field. The following week the side started to really take form once the Kiwis settled in. After that first match we ran the table. We won with strong, smothering defense and great mobility 1 through 15 where when we had ball in hand in space our attack was relentless. Add in a strong kicking game from young Tom, our Kiwi scrum half, and we finished the season top of the table.

Record for regular league season: 6-1

Top seed in the EGU D2 playoff, playing New York RFC in the semifinal match on November 2nd.

Sep 7th Old Blue (pre-season): 27 – 45

Good test before league season began

Sep 14th @ Buffalo: 7 – 32

Tough, six-hour road trip to start the season. Side hadn’t fully gelled yet. And we left points on the field.

Sep 21st Union: 75 – 12

Infusion of Kiwis, home opener, good mojo, we ran wild.

Sep 28th Long Island RFC: 43 – 15

Physical match that was a battle in the first half. We stuck together and broke it open in the second half.

Oct 5th Fairfield Yankees RFC: 35 - 27

Back and forth battle against a strong side. Our kicker was much better than theirs.

Oct 12th New Haven RFC: 62 – 21

No let up as we got up early and kept the pressure up for 80 minutes.

Oct 19th New York RFC: 17 - 12

We went out to an early lead and held on for the V. Tough match where our strong defense and mobility got us the win even though we struggled in the set pieces.

Oct 26th @ Montclair: 103 – 26

They scored the first try and then we woke up and ran through them relentlessly.
